In partnership with several organisations, the Council of Europe has put together a series of recommendations and documents to prevent and combat sexism, defined as "any expression (act, word, image, gesture) based on the idea that some persons, most often women, are inferior because of their sex."
"Sexism: See it. Name it. Stop it" aims to disseminate theCouncil of Europe’s Recommendation Rec (2019) on preventing and combating sexism.
The campaign considers the fact that the harmful impact of sexism can be worse for some women and men due to their ethnicity, age, disability, social origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation or other factors.
Its online platform (available in multiple languages) also presents 5 ways to get involved and take action against sexism.
