Awareness Day for journalists, filmmakers and TV animators

19.02.2016 / Created by (EMWF)

This is a common activity of Femmes En Communication (FEC) and Wassila Network to increase awareness of the media on their role in the fight against violence against women. The activity has targeted journalists and facilitators and television directors. The day began with a projection of scenes from a documentary, series and talk shows broadcast by national and international channels. The discussions highlighted the gaps in the treatment of issues related to women’s rights by the various media. The day ended with a Declaration of the Collective of Associations on the Law that criminalize the violence against women.

This practice was idnetified within the framework of the pilot action of mobilizaiton of equality actors on local level in Algeria-Oran in 2015. This action is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacity of equality actors”, of the project “Women for the future in the Mediterranean” funded by  the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and the project “Developing Women Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
