Ibtikar for Empowerment and Social Entrepreneurship

Ibtikar believes that innovations advance gender equality. Ibtikar describes three areas of innovation that, when they intersect, have the potential to progress women’s empowerment: (1) technology use, (2) social norm change, and (3) economic resilience. Ibtikar believes that when girls and women thrive in all these three areas, there is a demonstrable shift in gender relations. Ibtikar is always testing elements of this approach and building its understanding of the the intersection between innovation and gender equity.

The Department of Equality and Women Studies EWS focuses its activity not only on a university curriculum of excellence, with its three cycles (Degree, Master and Doctorate) progressively and integrally programmed. It works in parallel to train professionals and interested citizens, through Cycles of Conferences, Seminars and Congresses on the basis of a Permanent Program of Continuing Education. The resulting Specialization in Equality and Gender guarantees, according to the level acquired, sufficient training for the description, systematization and analysis of the corresponding conflicts, as well as for the design of proposals for prevention and resolution of the same. Such specialization also qualifies to intervene as professionals in the timely mediation.
