Expertes is the first free, 100% digital directory of all French and French-speaking women experts.
While in 2020, only 41% of the experts invited to the French media were women, the Expertes project offers a unique database of women researchers, business leaders and presidents of associations or heads of institutions.
The site lists three expert profiles: Business, Research or Civil Society.
“Business” experts are specialists in all professional sectors (health, justice, housing, agriculture, etc.) who have published at least one book or one article related to their professional activity.
“Research” experts are academics and researchers who have published in scientific journals.
“Civil society” experts are women exercising executive responsibility in an association, union or institution.
Tired of hearing the answer systematically, "There are no expert women!", Marie-Françoise Colombani and Chekeba Hachemi created in 2012 the first Guide for experts in paper version with the agency EpOke.
In 2015, under the leadership of the Egaé group, and in partnership with Radio France and France Télévision, the Expert Guide went digital on expertes.fr.
In 2017, the Expertes project was launched internationally and the Expertes Francophones site was created, in partnership with the International Organization of La Francophonie.
In 2018, the Expertes Tunisie and Expertes Algérie sites were launched in partnership with national associations and with the support of the French Embassy in Tunisia and the French Embassy in Algeria.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
