Arla Hoxha, Dea Rrozhani and Jonada Shukarasi are three Young Albanian female developpers who recently won recently won the ‘’Technovation 2019 Grand Prize’’ for their application mobile ‘’ GjejZa’’ which means ‘’Find you voice’’.
As witnesses of the increasing violence against women in Albania, these young developers decided to encourage women to stand up for themselves and raise their voice against violence, through their application which enables victims of Gender-based Violence (GBV) to seeks help, support and protection from women shelters, police, and legal support services. The application also include a digital library and a custom test crafted by psychologists to help users assess their situation.
According to a national population survey conducted by the Albanian Statistics Institute in 2018, 65.8% of surveyed women experienced dating violence; 1 in 3 women experienced intimate partner domestic violence and 3 in 4 women said that violence against women is a major problem in Albania.
