Turkish Statistical Institute (commonly known as TurkStat) is the Turkish government agency commissioned with producing official statistics on Turkey, its population, resources, economy, society, and culture. It was founded in 1926 and has its headquarters in Ankara.
Its purpose is to produce current quality statistics to meet the information needs of national policies and to draw a general picture of the country. The Institute also aims to coordinate statistical activities at the national level but also to act as an interlocutor for international entities. This particular branch concerns statistics on the social structure and gender equality in Turkey.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
