The Women’s Information and Documentation Center (CID) was created in 1992 on the initiative of a group of women from different backgrounds who shared the motivation to promote the role of women in society and more particularly in Luxembourg.
From the beginning, the CID has set itself the goal of working for gender equality in a number of areas, at both socio-political and cultural levels. The activity of the CID aims to contribute to equality between women and men by making available knowledge on women and gender.
The CID is subsidized by the Ministry of Equal Opportunities, the Ministry of Culture, and the City of Luxembourg. The association is a member of the National Council of Women of Luxembourg (CNFL), the LiDiA Federation, the European Women’s Lobby (EWL) and the Federation of Women’s Libraries and Archives.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
