18.05.2015 / Created by (EMWF)

The Irish Centre for Human Rights is one of the world’s premier academic human rights institutions, dedicated to the study and promotion of human rights, international criminal law and humanitarian law. Since its establishment in January 2000, the Centre has developed a global reputation for excellence in the field of human rights teaching, research and advocacy.

The Center offers a course on Gender and Human Rights. This course aims at providing students with the knowledge of the relationship between gender and human rights. It explores origins, development and challenges of integrating gender into human rights law discourse and practice. Focusing on international protection of women’s human rights as an example, the course introduces students to relevant international bodies and instruments. It also introduces students to the critical analysis of law through the study of feminist legal methods within the context of women’s rights protection.
