For many years, gender equality has been a fundamental value in Finland. It is stated in the Constitution and, more specifically, in the Act on Gender Equality. In this respect, the Ministry plays a key role in the promotion of gender equality through the preparation of the specific legislation, the monitoring of the state of gender equality at a national scale, the coordination of the development of the activities on gender equality and the promotion of the implementation of the objectives of the government’ s equality policy.
