The National Mechanism for the Promotion of Women’s Rights is the authority responsible in Cyprus for the promotion of gender equality and women’s rights. It deals with all the issues related to women and bases its work on the elimination of legal discrimination against women and on the promotion of real gender equality. It participates in gender mainstreaming in all the national policies and programmes by encouraging the training of competent professionals within the public service in terms of gender equality, supporting the enhancement of research on gender issues, promoting the collection of data and statistics broken down by gender, and organising workshops, seminars and conferences.
