The Committee assists the Commission in formulating and implementing the European Union (EU) activities in this field. It fosters ongoing exchanges of experiences, policies and practices between EU countries and the various parties involved. In order to achieve these aims, the Committee delivers opinions to the Commission on issues of relevance to the promotion of gender equality in the EU. It comprises representatives of EU countries, social partners at EU level and NGOs.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
