The Parliamentary Assembly - Union for the Mediterranean is the forum within which the Parliaments of the Mediterranean region meet with a view to achieving their common objectives for the creation of a better political, social, economic and cultural environment as well as to improve the living conditions of the citizens they represent. The Assembly is made up of 280 members and comprises four permanent committees and an ad hoc committee, one of which deals with the issue of women' s rights in the Euro-Mediterranean countries.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
