The division aims to help governments with gender mainstreaming in their development policies and programmes. It also endeavours to support training for the fight against inequalities (by using tools developed by the FAO in its socioeconomic programmes and gender analyses) and help to collect, analyse and disseminate statistical data on this subject. Finally, the division wishes to develop its capacities in gender analysis but also allocates specific budgets to this end.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
