"Association des femmes pour le développement et la culture” aims at achieving justice and gender equality in the Arab region. It works on finding effective mechanisms of accountability to limit discriminatory measures against women. The association advocates for women rights at the local and national levels, and it lobbies for the fulfilment of all international agreements related to women and gender equality (such as, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the Beijing Platform for Action), and for the gender mainstreaming in the Arab world.
The association mainly works at local level, and its main working themes are fighting violence; health, sexual and emotional life; as well as civil rights and political life. It has more than 10 years of working experience in the field of gender equality and its target groups are victims of violence; women artisans and youth.
