Mrs. Aslı Polatdemir is a PhD candidate in the Unit of Intercultural Education at the Bremen University where she also works as an academic researcher in the research project “Comparing the Women's Movements in Different Cities in Turkey”. Madam Polatdemir has experience in field research in various cities in Turkey, published in peer-reviewed journals and hold various conference presentations both in Germany, Turkey and United Kingdom. In addition to her academic works, in 2015 she has begun to offer lectures at the University of Bremen.
She received her M.A. degree in Political Science and Near and Middle East Studies from the University of Heidelberg in 2013, as a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship holder. Her topic was "The Representation of Muslim Women in Western: Glorified Activists During the Arab Spring”. She gained her Bachelor degree in International Relations at the University of Istanbul in 2011. Academically, she is interested in gender perspectives in postcolonial studies, gender politics in Turkey/ Middle East and representation and gender in cyberspace.
In her doctoral thesis, Mrs. Polatdemir questions the representation of women's movements in Turkey in cyberspace with Foucauldian discourse analysis method.
