MAAT for Peace, Development and Human Rights was created in 2005 as a non-partisan, non-profit civil society organisation. It is currently the head of network of the Euro-Mediterranean Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures since June 2013. The Foundation is also a member of a group of important local, regional and international networks and coalitions.
MAAT is a community where civil, political, economic, social and cultural human rights stipulated in the international conventions ratified by Egypt are respected and where the justice rules, rule of law, democracy and good governance based on participation, accountability and accountability are appreciated. Furthermore, it is a social peace community that has high and equal development rates considering the needs and rights of the marginalized groups.
MAAT Foundation seeks to utilize the human right approach, its mechanisms and tools in promoting the values and practices for social peace, development, democracy and good governance. Its works fields are: Decentralization and Good Local Governance, Elections and Democracy Support; Social Peace and Marginalized Groups Development; and International Mechanisms to Protect Human Rights.
MAAT works on violence and civil rights and political life at Euro-Mediterranean level. Their target groups are youth, women's entrepreneurs and employed women with more than 10 years of specific work experience.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
