The "Association Femmes en Communication" (FEC) was established in March 1995 in Algiers. Its main tasks are: to inform public about the condition and status of women with regards to the demand for equality; making women' s qualifications and their skills visible and fighting against social marginalization and gender policy and its low representation in decision-making bodies; to organize lobbying for the exercise of women' s full citizenship and denounce discrimination and violence against women at all levels.
The Association focuses on mastery of new technologies of information as the main communication tool in its activities, with the aim to promote female expression in all its forms.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
