Mission and objectives

Al Karam was founded in 1997 by Ms. Karima M'kika, under the patronage of HRH Princess Lalla Meryem and the state-approved in 2001. The association works for the protection of children in precarious situations in Safi and Marrakech (Morocco). Al Karam developed numerous risk prevention activities related to street life. It notably ensures shelter for disadvantaged children, provides legal and administrative assistance (for ensuring civil rights), physical and psychological rehabilitation, family reintegration, school and occupational reintegration for children who have experienced the pain of the street, begging, any kind of abuse or abandonment.

The 3 main objectives of Al Karam are:

- Raising awareness among governments, families, children and young people to better implement and enforce children's rights;

- Preventing child labor, begging, physical and sexual exploitation of minors through promoting school and vocational training;

- Rehabilitating, physically and morally, children and youth at risk.

Al Karam works on civil and political life, education and professional training as well as health and emotional and sexual life at national level. Its target groups are young people, children and victims of violence. The association has over 10 years of specific experience working in gender equality.
