Starting from an anthropological analysis of migrated women entrepreneurs in Italy, Strane Straniere becomes an informal network. It increases public awareness, encourages a change in attitude and behaviour promoting an unusual image of women and migration as creative resources. For this purpose, several art tools (narrative, visual and performing art) are used.
The powerful capability of women to generate becomes a metaphor: through an unforeseeable idea they create both an enterprise and a new life in a new country. All of them strongly break down stereotypes about women and migration. Their stories give us a different way of thinking about these items. Difficult circumstances could be experienced and they have generally been overcame unexpected. This “unexpected” effect spreads positively around. Relations, ideas, projects and actions come out.
