The International Alliance of Women (IAW) is an international non-governmental feminist organisation founded in 1904 and based in Geneva comprising more than 40 member associations from all over the world. It works for the empowerment of women, the promotion of women' s human rights and gender equality globally.
In the Euromediterranean space, the IAW has been focussing on the UN Security Resolution 1325.This year it organised a side event that took place during the CSW Forum in New York that explored the opportunities of monitoring the implementation of UNSC Res 1325 and following resolutions through reporting requirements under CEDAW .This also includes Res 1820 linking sexual violence as a tactic of war with the maintenance of international peace and security.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
