The “Union de l'Action Feminine (UAF)” (or the Union of Women's Action) is a national non-profit organization that consists of 32 sections across Morocco. The UAF was born from a movement to fight for the promotion of the rights of Moroccan women: the movement of "March 8".
The UAF's section of Tanger, that is an independent non-profit organization, has been locally operational since June 1996.
The section focuses its activities primarily on the following areas:
- Disseminating the culture of equality of human rights and citizenship;
- Supporting women victims of abuse;
- Abolition of all forms of discrimination against women;
- Supporting effective participation of women in decision making;
- Guaranteeing economic and social rights of women;
- Promoting functional literacy, legal and digital.
The UAF has a network of several centers "Annajda" which means "help!". The aim of these centers is to provide shelters, counselling, guidance as well as legal, medical and psychological assistance to women victims of violence. The UAF's section of Tanger has initiated and developed several projects in social, legal and economic fields. The section chooses a smart and effective use of tools of Multimedia and ICT.
