The Committee for the Follow-Up on Women' s Issues (CFUWI) is a nongovernmental organization established on 1996, in Lebanon, to eliminate all types of discrimination against women; to develop the participation of women in the decision making in private and public spheres; to develop the participation of women in all levels of social, economic and political aspects of life; to raise awareness concerning gender and to integrate gender mainstreaming within the national policies; to consolidate the norms and values of human rights including the genuine rights of women and, finally, to encourage intercommunications among women in the local, regional and international levels.
Since CFUWI' s establishment, the Association has implemented several projects including: Gender Equality in Education, women' s political participation, Lebanese Women Rights and the Nationality Law, Culture of democracy and dialogue within the Lebanese family, conducting 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Shadow Reports on the progress made in the Implementation of the CEDAW Convention.
