Presentation of research activity or teaching

An independent researcher focused on gender issues in Egypt and the MENA region at large. Mecky has worked, collaborated and published with several local and regional entities including the Egyptian Center for Women's Rights (ECWR), Arab Council for Social Sciences (ACSS), HarassMap, Al Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, Ahram Online, among others. She holds an MA in Gender Studies and Law from SOAS, University of London (2018), where her research tackled feminist mobilization with the state in Egypt.
She also obtained a BA in Political Science from the British University in Egypt in 2013.
She presented her research at IEMed Youth Forum III in Barcelona, and was a Panelist during EuroMeSCo Annual Conference in June 2019, and at the Arab Council for Social Sciences (ACSS) Fourth Conference.
Her research interests include but not limited to gender-based violence, feminist activism and mobilization, resistance, body politics and gender legal and structural reform.
