The Women and Democracy Association, KADEM, was founded on International Women’s Day, March 8th
2013, as a non-governmental and non-profit organization working for the empowerment of women. KADEM is engaged in advocacy in order to deliver the human dignity women deserved and has a mission of carrying out solution-oriented best practices to solve the issues and barriers that inhibit women’s most basic rights. KADEM works continuously with its professional team of 100 bright individuals and is even stronger with 5400 members
and more than 5000 passionate volunteers tirelessly working at all 50 representative offices across Turkey to ensure gender justice and women’s rights within the family and community.
KADEM mainly focuses on women’s empowerment, gender-based violence, refugee women and women’s participation in politics. We conduct projects, provide trainings, organize workshops and events as International Women and Justice Summit, Gender Justice Congress and being in consultative status with the ECOSOC, we organize UN CSW parallel events.
