Mission and objectives

The Libyan Women's Union / Tripoli was established in 2012 and is constantly seeking to fulfill its mission of promoting women in the city of Tripoli in particular and to enhance their developmental roles in the various political, cultural, economic, social, health, legislative and other fields in accordance with the National Strategy for the Advancement of Women which includes several programs to empower women and build their capacities.
The Union include several associations who aim to improve the status of women, as well as many women from different professional, educational and social backgrounds.

Main activities related to gender equality and women's rights

- Activities to support affected women
- Courses to encourage women's political participation
- Capacity building for women at the professional level
- Implementation of awareness campaign on the role of women in the elections
In the same context, the Union was mandated to form a preparatory committee from all the cities of Libya to form the General Women's Union.
