Mission and objectives

Sisterhood is Global Institute/Jordan (SIGI) is an independent, non-governmental organization, established in 1998 by a group of Jordanian women, who believed: 1. that the cause of women is the cause of the community; 2. that women are partners in facing their common challenges and in formulating future directions; 3. that women' s rights are essential to achieving equality, freedom, and human dignity for all people without any discrimination and; 4. that women' s achievement of their rights is necessary for development, peace, progress, prosperity, and well-being and security of the family, society and humanity.

SIGI aims to provide protection, assurances and necessary services to women, especially vulnerable groups, such as rural women and victims of violence. Moreover, it works for building women' s capacities, empowering them, enhancing their participation in public life; as well as promoting the inclusion of women' s issues within the development process at national, regional, and international levels.
