Mission and objectives

The General Directorate for Social Cohesion (DGCS) is the central administration responsible for the Ministries of Social Affairs, Health, Families, Children as well as Women's Rights, Housing and Social Affairs and Sustainable Housing (Emergency Shelter). The DGCS intervenes on public policies of solidarity, social development and the promotion of equality that fosters social cohesion.

The DGCS is composed of three services:

- Department of social and medico-social policies,
- Department of women's rights and equality between women and men (SDFE),
- Department of policy support.

The mission of the DGCS is to initiate, promote and implement policies relating to women's rights and equality between women and men. The DGCS leads and facilitates the inter-ministerial action on these policies through the network of senior officials who are in charge of equal rights and those correspondents of each ministry.
