EuroMed Rights is looking to recruit an experienced, dynamic professional as Middle East Programme Officer. S/he will be responsible for implementing and developing EuroMed Rights’ Palestine, Israel and the Palestinians (PIP) Programme and, when relevant, support other Middle East country programmes.
Essential position functions
- Monitoring and strategy planning on human rights and IHL developments in Israel and Palestine with a specific focus on EuroMed Rights thematic priorities;
- Advocacy and communication: In close coordination with the Outreach department, propose and implement EuroMed Rights advocacy actions towards the EU, Member States, and the UN, including organising/supporting advocacy missions, media events, capacity-building activities, communication work, research and publication of reports; carry out solidarity activities where EuroMed Rights members or partners and their work are at risk.
- Representation and alliance-building: Establish new and maintain existing contacts with other nongovernmental organisations on issues pertaining to Palestine, Israel and Palestinians (PIP), including by organising regular NGO coordination meetings at Brussels and Member State levels.
- Facilitating cooperation and synergies: Organise PIP Working Group (WG) meetings and workshops; ensure contacts between the WG members on a regular basis regarding human rights developments and advocacy/communication opportunities; actively seek and distribute information on PIP to members of the WG; support synergies with other programmes on cross-cutting issues.
- Grant management and fundraising: Actively engage in fundraising for EuroMed Rights initiatives on Palestine, Israel and the Palestinians; ensure proper financial management of budgets, evaluation of activities, and narrative and financial reporting to donors.
- Gender mainstreaming: Apply EuroMed Rights gender mainstreaming policy to the above activities.
- Contributing to the Middle East Team: Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of the strategic goals of the Middle East Team, supporting colleagues of other Middle East country programmes when relevant.
