The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development seeks to realize the human rights for all, advocating for gender equality and women’s empowerment, through a series of goals, which are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental. Of these, goal number 5 is dedicated to gender equality, for as stated by the UN, "providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. Implementing new legal frameworks regarding female equality in the workplace and the eradication of harmful practices targeted at women is crucial to ending the gender-based discrimination prevalent in many countries around the world."
Within this framework, the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR) believes it necessary to contextualize the efforts and initiatives created towards achieving goal number 5. That is why they have launched a call for papers to attract the interest of local and regional policymakers (governments, parliaments, ministries and politicians and politicians) towards the issue of gender equality as a core issue that criss-crosses all the goals and objectives of the Agenda. The papers submitted must galvanize the actors in the region to take into account the gender equality perspective and the empowerment of women in policies and legislation, as well as in development programs and projects.
All papers will be reviewed by a scientific committee and must include:
- A title
- A brief summary
- An introduction presenting the topic in its general context
- An in-depth presentation of the topic, rightly referenced
- A list of suggested recommendations to tackle the issue analysed
- An abstract
- A list of references of sources that provide additional information on the topic of the paper
Deadline for submissions: April 30, 2020.
Length of the document: 15 pages in Modern Standard Arabic.
Submissions are to be sent to: info@cawtar.org
