Writing fellowships for Arab scholars and activists on Gendered resistance

This writing fellowship is part of the New Paradigms Factory Program (NPF) of the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) and it is open to researchers in any social science field and allied fields. Submitted writings and papers must focus on resistance from gender-centered perspectives. Applicants must critically explore not only structural and social violence and different forms of oppression, but also resistance to these forms:

  • What constitutes resistance at different scales and through different modalities?
  • How is resistance gendered? And what is its impact on gender relations and identities?
  • How is the conceptual framing of resistance shaped by hegemonic paradigms?
  • How do the ways that women, girls and gender-non conforming people resist represent a challenge to current dominant analytical paradigms?

Applicants must be citizens of on Arab country and must hold a Master’s degree in the social sciences, humanities or allied disciplines and must be actively engaged in social science debates and aware of current dominant paradigms and their limitations. PhD candidates and holders are not eligible to apply for this program.Application deadline is on August 30th 2018.
