MEDFEST is an artistic, cultural, humanitarian and medically themed educational Egyptian short film festival, which launched in January 2017. Its vision is to explore common grounds between medicine and film as scientific and artistic approaches supporting the well-being of human beings. Last year’s theme was “Under the skin” and introduced common mental health problems through short films.
The second edition of MEDFEST tackles women’s health and well-being and they are currently hunting up unique films that are related to one of the following topics: Onset of period; Early marriage; Marriage; In Vitro Fertilization (IVF); Infertility; Pregnancy; Abortion; Motherhood; Postnatal Depression; Female Genital Mutilation (FGM); Gender Based Violence (GBV); War and women; Women as care providers; Women as subject of care; Women cancers; Discrimination; Menopause.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
