SouthMed WiA, a project funded by the European Union as part of its MedFilm regional programme, launched its second Call for Proposals, for strengthening the capacities of audio-visual operators in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia; to contribute to sustainable development and cultural diversity, by promoting gender equality and enhancing the image of women in the film sector.
The deadline for applications is 23 February 2018, 12:00 (CET).
The objective of this call for applicants is to support projects addressing weaknesses and issues related to gender equality and the under-representation of women in the audio-visual sector, both on the screen and behind the camera, including the perpetuation of stereotypes relating to the image of women in Arab societies, with the ultimate goal of influencing widespread cultural attitudes and public opinion. SouthMed WiA will support the beneficiaries of the grants during the implementation of the projects by providing capacity building activities and continuous coaching.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
