SouthMed WiA, a project funded by the European Union as part of its MedFilm regional programme, has launched its first Call for Proposals, aimed at supporting projects that address issues related to gender equality and the under-representation of women in the audiovisual sector in seven Southern Mediterranean countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia.
The deadline for applications is 15 September 2017.
The call contains the following lots: research activities, training and awareness training and advocacy. The indicative amount available for the three lots is €340,000. Any grant awarded under this call for proposals will fall between a minimum of €80,000 and a maximum of €100,000.
SouthMed WiA will support the beneficiaries of the grants during the implementation of the projects by providing capacity building, networking activities and continuous coaching.
The SouthMed WiA project aims to strengthen the capacities of the film sector operators in the seven target countries to contribute to sustainable development and cultural diversity, by promoting gender equality and enhancing the image of women in the film sector.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
