For 5 days, 18 programmers were able to build a data base on topics related with gender-based violence. During the training, organised by Community Media Center, the participants also developed a mobile application that supports the access of women victims of violence to multi-sectoral service providers.
On the first day of the training, participants deepened their knowledge on gender-based violence related issues.
On the second day, they learned about women’s rights in international conventions, local laws and Palestinian legislation.
Women who are exposed to violence resort to shelters. Who do these shelters work? How many are there in Palestine? What about economic rehabilitation programmes for women? These were some of the questions tackled during the third day of the training.
On the fourth day, participants dealt with how mental health centres work and provide psychological support services to victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
The last day of the trainning revolved around the following questions: What are the means to provide legal support to women survivors and victims of violence, including legal awareness, representation in courts, and legal advice?
