Labelled as “Setting the New Agenda for the Mediterranean in Motion – Shaping Post-Covid Euromed Relations”, this year’s EuroMeSCo Annual Conference will be held online due to the circumstances. This edition will be divided into different tracks, starting with the major event being held on April 15th. A European Commission high official will present the Communication, after which several sessions will unfold in relation with the main issues addressed in the Communication (Human development and good governance; Resilience, prosperity and digital transition; Peace and security; Migration and mobility; Green transition). The debates will be structured around short interventions from experts coming from the whole region, and gender will be a cross-sectional perspective throughout the event.
This event will kick-off a series of country events to be held in a few Southern neighbourhood countries. They will offer a platform for further discussions on relevant issues of the Communication, and involve mixed groups of representatives from think tanks, academic institutions, civil society organisations, and business community representatives as well as EU officials.
A few months after the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona declaration, a few weeks after the release of the EU Joint Communication on the Renewed Partnership and amid discussions on the EU assistance programming under the 2021-2027 multi-annual financial framework, this Conference will offer a unique platform for debate, in line with the mandate of EuroMeSCo to promote inclusive and evidence-based policy making and to foster Euro-Mediterranean relations.
