Based on its awareness of the importance of the role of civil society in in-depth transformations -and most notably the influence of media in shaping the public discourse- Joussour has launched several initiatives to connect with its local, regional and international surroundings.
To this end, Joussour put in place an integrated programme, lead by experts, to train the association’s networks, with a particular focus on its youth, in the field of journalistic writing, touching upon ethical issues. As a result, "Joussour" magazine was born; the magazine has been praised as the "first regional human rights magazine" issued in Tunisia.
Despite financial constraints, the association has published several issues of the magazine in order to contribute to societal change and the consolidations of the values of equality and tolerance and of human rights as a whole.
In the beginning of 2021, a special edition of the magazine was dedicated to gender-related issues in Tunisia, with contents in both English and Arabic. Joussour also contributed to the publication of other material that helps develop a gender approach in different spheres of life.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
