The Generation Equality Forum will begin in March 2021 in Mexico City and will culminate in June 2021 in Paris. Initiated by UN Women, co-chaired by France and Mexico, in partnership with civil society, it will be the largest global feminist gathering in 25 years. The Generation Equality Forum will bring together States, international organizations, civil society and the private sector to define a series of concrete actions to advance gender equality and women’s rights around the world.
Between December 2020 and March 2021, the General Secretariat of the Generation Equality Forum is organising a series of 7 thematic events dedicated to the six coalitions of action of the Forum. These are multi-stakeholder partnerships defined around six themes identified as priorities:
The last event in March 2021 will be devoted to the follow-up mechanism of the Agenda for Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action, which will also be launched at the Forum in Paris in June 2021. The aim of these events is to raise awareness of the action coalitions and their issues and to mobilise the largest possible number of actors committed to gender equality in France.
Hosted and moderated by the Ambassador and Secretary General of the Generation Equality Forum Delphine O, each event will welcome five speakers representing a State, an international organisation, civil society, the private sector and an expert in the field. During an hour and fifteen minutes of discussion, the panelists will define the key messages of the coalition for action, how to get the different actors committed to gender equality to work together and create international solidarity. The last quarter of an hour will be devoted to questions from the audience.
