For the first time, the WIBA Community participated this year in the international campaign aimed at raising awareness among citizens about breast cancer screening, by organizing "Setif Days in Pink" on October 16, 17, 19 and 28 in the Wilaya. of Setif (Algeria).
This event included an awareness day, organized by the ENNOUR association, which is chaired by Professor Hamdi Chrif, Oncologist and coordinator of the East and South East Region Cancer Registry Network, in collaboration with the members of WIBA Community, the Institute INJAZ and OAF (the Algerian Observatory for Women), during which statistics have been given by specialists showing that this disease makes victims, very largely among women and less so in men too. "Of the 53,076 cases of cancer detected in 2018 in Algeria, more than 2,900 women have died," according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
The event also counted on the participation of DAR ESSABR (hospital for cancer patients) who organized several activities like the DAR ESSABR Miss Beauty contest, the competition of the best model, the contest of best patient receiving music therapy, the pink bowling party at the PARK Mall Setif and the pink run, among others.
This event was therefore a tribute to all the women warriors and fighters who have incredible strength to face cancer and who give others a good lesson in life. As the quote says, "When one is sick, nothing sings louder than the urge to heal¨.
