On October 9th, Nawal Mustafa, the founder of ‘’Care of Children of Female Prisoners Association’’ received Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development in recognition of her efforts in helping women prisoners to rebuild their lives after their release, through the project ‘’New life’’. The Award ceremony took place in Geneva in presence of her Majesty Queen Sofia, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, members of the AGFUND Prize Committee and diplomats.
The "New Life" project, aimed at empowering vulnerable female debtors or women prisoners in Al-Qanater prison and providing psychological support for them and their children. It also aimed at reintegrating children into society through recreational and media-related activities.
Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development is awarded annually by the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND).
