Mobilising for Rights Associates (MRA) launched an online survey to gain a better understanding of the experiences of women victims of sexual violence and how public actors (police, courts, judges and public health facilities) treat and respond to this type of violence, defined as "any sexual act such as rape or Sexual abuse or any undesirable contact by any person, regardless of his or her relationship with the victim, in any place, without the free and voluntary consent of the other person to such act. "
The survey is part of a three-year multi-faceted process, in partnership with four organizations, seeking to consult as many people as possible in different parts of Morocco. Individual interviews and focus group discussions will be organized with women, public authorities and other stakeholders throughout the project.
The organization hopes that these results will contribute to improving the lives of women, through raising awareness of the problem of sexual violence against women, as well as strengthening concrete measures by public actors to respond effectively to such violence. It also invites Moroccan women to participate in the survey which is available in Arabic and French.
