The CNJC launches a guide for young people against machismo violence

The National Youth Council of Catalonia (Consell Nacional de la Joventut de Catalunya - CNJC) has launched the educational project "Unfollow a les violències masclistes" ("Unfollow machismo violence"), whose aim is to prevent and address machismo violence and abusive relationships between teenagers and young people in social media. Actions such as the dissemination of photos and videos without the person’s consent, group pressure to impose gender roles or aesthetic pressure are different forms of harassment that thrive in these platforms.

The main tool of this project is a guide for 12-25 year olds, which explores different forms of cyberharassment, gives advice and offers support activities through fictional situations and characters so that young people can empathize with the characters and reflect on their own actions and consequences.

The project "Unfollow machismo violence" also wants to promote debates and do prevention work in classrooms. As such, teachers can also benefit from a training in their schools.
