‘’In Morocco, the entry into force of a the law against violence against women seems to be going in the right direction. But many feminists believe that it does not go far enough. The recent cases of sexual assault reflect how the society’s opinions are polarized around the status of women. For our guest, Ibtissame Betty Lachgar of the Alternative Movement for Individual Freedoms (M.A.L.I), women’s rights are universal and do not have to submit to the so-called local culture.’’
