CEDAW Association launches its annual report on the status of Egyptian women in 2017

The CEDAW Association for Democracy and Human Rights launched its annual report on the situation of women in Egypt, especially in 2017, on the occasion of the Egyptian Women’s Day. This report sheds light on the conditions and achievements of Egyptian women during this year, through four axes:

  1. Political empowerment of women by strengthening their leadership roles, increasing their representation in elected parliamentary assemblies, preventing discrimination against them and increasing their participation in the elections.
  2. Women’s economic empowerment through the development of their capacities, the expansion of employment options and the equalization of opportunities, and the employment of women in the private sector and assistance in the establishment of small enterprises.
  3. Social empowerment through increased educational and health services provided to women and provision of services to working mothers in order to facilitate their work.
  4. Eliminate the negative aspects women face through the adoption of special legislation and laws against violence against women and the revision of the Personal Status Code to promote equality between women and men.
