The project EQUAL SPACE (2017- 2019) will enable more participation and empowerment of migrant and minorities women by developing trainings for Community Education Facilitators in the field of intersection of gender and diversity.
Adult education often neglects the integration of disadvantaged people. EQUAL SPACE, a partnership between adult education and research organisations from Austria (PERIPHERIE Institut für praxisorientierte Genderforschung in Graz), Bulgaria (Center of Women’s Studies and Policies), France (Elan Interculturel) and Portugal (Rede de Jovens para a Igualdade), is facing this challenge:
Community Education Facilitators will be trained in intersection of gender and cultural diversity in order to enable educational disadvantaged migrant and minorities women to find an access to lifelong learning and adult education.
Community-based development work is primarily concerned with motivation of people to become a part of the work in their communities and shaping them actively, and to bring in those who are referred to as “disadvantaged groups“.
Our target groups are:
Community workers, (adult) education organisations, social workers, relevant regional actors and stakeholders, institutions working with gender aspects, migrant or minorities women.
The project will develop a variety of products in English, German, French, Portuguese and Bulgarian: We studied the national contexts in all partner countries about the status quo of community education work and needs for further trainings.
National reports in national languages and in English will be published in Summer 2018. We also will compare main results of national empirical researches and we will produce a transnational comparative report and recommendations.
Next steps are development of Curriculum, Toolkit and Platform for online learning for Community Educators and Facilitators.
Stay in touch with our project for more information about the released products and national and international events that we will organize via our Website: http://www.equalspace.eu and Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ProjectEqualSpace/.
The Equal Space project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
