Although Libyan women are an integral part of society, their rights in the transitional period have remained inadequate and have faced many forms of violence to intimidate and exclude them from active participation in Libyan society. Therefore, the Women Youth Empowering Forum, in partnership with Gender Concerns International, launched the project "constitutional rights of Libyan women" which targeted more than 80 organizations from civil society organizations, activists and human rights activists from different regions of Libya, over a period of two years (2013-2014).
This project resulted in a constitutional document for the rights of Libyan women, which was submitted to the Constituent Assembly of the Constitution. Several advocacy events were held in this regard, as well.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
