Recently, a unique meeting which gathered a group of journalists and media professionals was held at the Badr al-Twail Association to discuss the issue of women's right to inheritance. The audience discussed this issue from a purely media perspective, under the leadership of Mr. Mohamed Fahmy (Chairman of the Board of Directors). The journalists also recognized Badr association's activities and its prominent role in social issues. The attendees presented a systematic media plan for the campaign's progress during the coming period, starting with the media and its prominent role in influencing people's ideas. The participants also stressed the importance of communicating on the campaign's objective to schools through theatrical films that show women's right to inheritance. The films must reflect the importance of equal rights for women and men among young people. Fahmi and the attendees concluded the meeting by acknowledging the role of the Euro-Mediterranean Women's Foundation because of its prominent and concrete role in such issues for a long time, which is the official promoter of this campaign. Thus, the meeting is part of an advocacy campaign which Badr is conducting in the framework of the CSO WINS project with the support of the European Union.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
