JBPWF wants to improve women factory workers' conditions in Zarqa

Gender equality project for women factory workers in Zarqa governorate, Jordan.

With the support of the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation, a team from the Jordanian Business and Professional Women´s Forum visited a number of factories to identify the conditions of women factory workers in Zarqa governorate, the difficulties they face, and the extent of gender equality. This was done by:

  • Identifying conditions for women workers in the factories through a sample of women workers• Measuring the gap between males and females in terms of salaries and job titles
  • Discovering the difficulties facing women workers in the factories
  • Working on finding suitable solutions in coordination with relevant agencies and factory owners
  • Raising awareness of gender equality among both women and men.

The Jordan Forum for Business and Professional Women (JFBPW) is a not-for-profit business association that was established in 1976 for the purpose of serving the Jordanian business and professional women, and increasing their contribution to the development of the national economy of Jordan.

Its mission is “to be the platform that develops, empowers and advocates business and professional women in Jordan”. The forum is dedicated to achieve the purpose of its initiation through technical and professional support, advocacy, networking and fostering constructive dialogues and actions that empower businesswomen nationally, regionally and internationally.
