This project is the result of the mobilization pilot action of local actors "Strengthening the capacity of gender equality actors" that was implemented in Irbid governorate in 2015, it will allow BBA to keep in contact with the women candidates for the municipal councils (either they won or they did not win).
The field project has been designed based on the diagnosis’ recommendations, which emphasized the importance of supporting women in setting up their election campaign by implementing community initiatives in partnership with the private sector and media as the expected adoption of the municipal elections will be in 2017, through the deliberations between the Legislative Council and the Jordanian Government. The community initiatives are awareness-raising activities aimed at supporting women to access to the municipal councils and enhance their political participation. These community initiatives will target the community leaders, youth, activist women and the municipalities’ members.
