Urgent help for women without status

21.02.2017 / Created by ILIHFC

At Isha L’Isha - Haifa Feminist Center, we support and accompany women who need assistance in pregnancy termination. Today, following advocacy work we were involved in, pregnancy termination is included in the medical basket (up to the age of 33). However, this achievement does not include women without status who need this service. These are women without civil status and without medical insurance who do not have the economic means to afford pregnancy termination. Last week, there are two women without status who needed our urgent help. One who is a victim of trafficking for purposes of prostitution, and the other who is a refugee who was raped. Both of them are in urgent need for financing pregnancy termination. We were able to successfully raise the necessary funds for these two women from individual friends. We are asking for donations in order to help us maintain a support infrastructure for these women. The money will go through a specific fund at Isha L’Isha that is designated specifically for this. It is part of our struggle of the right of women over their bodies and our right to control our bodies. It is part of our solidarity with women who live among us without civil status and without any rights, and who are exposed to exploitation and violence. The right to medical services should not depend on boundaries or civil status. You can donate via our website, where we have set up a Paypal account at the following link: http://tinyurl.com/h8f7ol7. Please add a note to your donation that it is for the pregnancy termination fund. If you encounter any technical issue or can’t find where to add the note, you can contact our development coordinator, Khulud Khamis, at isha.haifa@gmail.com Every amount will be appreciated. If you cannot donate, please share with your network of friends.
