Video of the advocacy workshop in favour of women in the Mediterranean

This video (which is mainly in French with subtitles in English and Arabic) presents the CSO WINS project “Capacity-building in the Southern Mediterranean to open policy dialogue and monitoring for women in society”, funded by the European Union.

It gives an overview of the 6-day training held in April 2016 on how to change women’s place in society and influence policy dialogue related to gender equality. The training gathered 42 participants, including:

- 24 representatives of associations willing to develop advocacy actions;

- 11 representatives of associations who had been selected previously for implementing successful practices on advocacy and policy dialogue;

- Other key-actors (research centers, policy-makers, etc.) and gender equality experts.

The participants who came from: Algeria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt, Spain, France, Greece, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia, reinforced their skills in advocating for women and shared lessons learnt in the mobilization of public opinion for women’s rights.

Through the video, you can see how some of the topics were developed: how to define an advocacy objective, how to develop an argument with a policy-maker or launch a petition, as well as coaching and communication techniques aimed at promoting peer learning among associations who share similar objectives.

The CSO WINS project is coordinated by the European Institute of the Mediterranean – IEMed (Spain), in partnership with the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research - CAWTAR (Tunisia), DJAZAIROUNA Association of victims of terrorism (Algeria), the Federation of the Democratic League of Women’s Rights - FLDDF (Morocco), the Forum Femmes Méditerranée - FFM (France), the Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association Asala (Palestine) and the Euro-Mediterranean Academic and Scientific Network on Women and Gender - RUSEMEG (France). It is funded by the EU.

To view the subtitles, you need to activate the option in the Setup tab.
